Museo Casa Natal de Cervantes Alcalá de Henares, Spain

Cervantes´s Birthplace Museum is located in the main street of the historic city of Alcalá de Henares. Miguel de Cervantes was born in 1547, and that building belonged to the Cervantes´s family in the 16th century. It is a two-storey building with interior courtyard. First opened to the public in 1956 as a house museum, the building has undergone numerous renovations and transformations always preserving original parts. In this house, the everyday life of a wealthy Spanish family in the 16th and 17th centuries is recreated in detail.

In the museum we can see, in a visual and scenographic way, customs, tastes and daily chores of its inhabitants. It also has an important bibliographic collection of Cervantine Editions of all epochs and in all languages.

The Casa Natal de Cervantes Museum is located in Alcalá de Henares (Spain), in a building that rebuilds the building where, according to the studies of the historian Luis Astrana Marín, the writer Miguel de Cervantes was born. It is located on Calle Mayor, next to the Antezana Hospital. The current building was built in 1956, evoking the canons of the traditional Castilian-Toledo house.
