The Casa del Alabado Museum has in its custody around 5000 archaeological objects belonging to ancient societies that occupied the territory known today as Ecuador. A finely honed selection of 500 pieces makes up the Museum´s permanent exhibition, with both scientific and museological content, invites the public to discover the worldview of indigenous Americans and explore the aesthetic and technical excellence achieved by ancient artists as they worked an array of raw materials.
The Museum of Casa del Alabado is an Ecuadorian museum located in the historic center of Quito, dedicated to pre-Columbian art. Although it deals with the social developments of pre-Hispanic Ecuador, it is not an exclusively archaeological museum, since it privileges the aesthetic of the object before the chronological thematic of the Ecuadorian archeology. It can be said that the museological script is inspired by the concept of divinization of the human being, from the contact that it has with the forces of nature, or apus.
The museum has: 14 permanent exhibition halls, 1 temporary exhibition hall, 2 rooms for the development of educational activities, 1 shop, 1 café and 2 patios. It also has an area of services and customer service.
Hours: Monday through Sunday from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm.
