Albin Christen

Albin Christen (1974) is a Swiss artist, graphic designer and illustrator who did great posters for Montreux Jazz Festival and has worked for Opéra de Lausanne, Adidas, Swatch and did several editorials worldwide. Very personal, colorful and childlike style.

Albin Christen studied graphic design in Lausanne between 1994 and 1997 and started as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator right away. He worked on communication projects, mostly in the cultural field. Greatly inspired by popular art, from the Swiss Alps to Africa, Albin Christen has always been influenced by artists such as Le Douanier Rousseau, Paul Klee, Chagall, Gauguin, Kandinsky or Holder.

He has produced several posters, including one for the famous Montreux Jazz Festival in 2000, models for Swatch watches and numerous drawings for the press and children’s books. Wide-eyed people enjoying themselves and bright colours are the characteristic feature of Albin Christen, an artist who says he greatly admires Javier Mariscal, creator of Cobi, the mascot for the 1992 Games in Barcelona. In 2002, this 25 year-old Lausanne-based graphic designer produced a brochure for the Olympic Museum’s Education and Culture Services entitled “How well do you know the Olympic Games?”.
