In this masterly still life, Willem van Aelst, a Dutch painter of floral and hunting still lifes, uses the glass rummer to reflect his image and the windows of his atelier. Green vine leaves fade to blue as time passes. From the collection of the Belgian physician and mineralogist François-Xavier de Burtin (1743 - 1818).
