Graffiti Collectif Festival Black And Basque by 9eme Concept
The Black & Basque Festival presents an exhibition dedicated to the artist Ladislas Kijno and the American activist Angela Davis. The exhibition presents historical works from Kijno, together with tributes from current artists.
Black & Basque decided to pay tribute to the master who was the first to paint Angela Davis' battle and who disappeared at the age of 92.
In his art, Kijno used the aerosol bomb, stencil, writing which makes Robert Combas say with whom he produced several remarkable canvases that "Kijno is the first tagger! "
His sense of commitment and political action and his innovative techniques make him one of the "fathers" of street art artists. A vibrant and shining homage to the master and his humanist struggles will be given to him by the artists invited to exhibit with him: the members of the 9th Concept collective (Stéphane Carricondo, Ned, Jerk 45), the independent graphic artist Jean-Jacques Tachdjian Basque painters ...

Felts hanging on a black wall, this concept is an area of free expression. Artists, passers-by, children, all are invited to leave a trace on this wall, managed by the artists.
As the passages progress, the wall collects messages, displays individual lines, and creates a collective work. There is something graffiti like Basquiat, spontaneous, multiple, naive, underground.
Tags for Peace: Kijno & Angela "presents the historical diptych for Angela Davis of 1971 as well as" The Walker ", another monumental work in tribute to Angela loaned by the Sapone Gallery. Unpublished documents, acrylics, drawings, photographs, press clippings ... and the documentary by Dominik Rimbaud devoted to Kijno enrich this exhibition.
The curator of this exhibition is the art historian, journalist, author and director Renaud Faroux "one of the spiritual sons of the artist" who organized his Retrospective at the Palais des Beaux Arts in Lille in 2000.
