Lionel Bicknell Constable (1828-1887) was a British visual artist British, focus on Mountain Landscape.
The work of Lionel Constable has only recently been distinguished from that of his father, John. This sketch is one of several to survive from a visit to Cornwall in July 1850. Lionel exhibited two views of Cornwall at the Royal Academy in 1851 based on these sketches.
Many works by the artist have been sold at auction, including 'A wooded river landscape' sold at Christie's South Kensington 'OLD MASTER & BRITISH PICTURES' in 2007 for $7,256. There have been many articles about Lionel Bicknell Constable, including 'Art Runs in the Family' written by MutualArt's Christine Bednarz for MutualArt in 2012. The artist died in 1887.
