Jean-Baptiste Gautier Dagoty (1740 - 1786) was a Frans schilder, he was best known for his portraits. Dagoty painted three beautiful granddaughters of Louis XV of France.
The family Gautier Dagoty brought a number of artists in the 18th century on. They have no reputation, various botanists, painters and anatomists worked sloppy and scientific work has little value. Jean-Baptiste Gautier Dagoty was a son of the painter and graphic artist Jacques Fabien Gautier Dagoty. His brothers Arnaud Éloi Gautier Dagoty and Éduard Gautier Dagoty were artist.
The graph of father and sons were in the style of Le Blon. They published large series of portraits in which mezzo tones, a fourth black plate was used the example of Le Blon. Their "Galerie Francaise ou Portraits des Femmes et Hommes célèbres qui ont paru en France" published in 1770, was primarily the work of Gautier Dagoty Pere. The "Galerie des Portraits Universelle contenant les Personnes Célèbres Pays des tout" from 1772, including portraits of popular philosophers Voltaire and d'Alembert also collaborated Jean-Baptiste Gautier Dagoty.
