The vision of JD Centre of Art (JDCA) is to create an Art Centre that preserves and promotes traditional and contemporary art, without boundaries. This vision is taking shape across the historic 2nd century BC Khandagiri caves in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Construction of its first phase is ongoing. JDCA wants to build a living, ever-changing example of sustainable, human centred design for Odisha, around its diverse collection. The museum collection spans contemporary art, traditional art and craft; historic and contemporary textiles. JD Centre of Art is driven by Jatin Das, its Founder and Chairman, a contemporary artist conferred with one of India’s highest civilian awards, the Padma Bhushan. The JD Centre of Art has been working towards the development of an appreciation of place and culture, community pride, museums preserving heritage, and opportunities for learning across all ages. Through its programming, as well as its outreach, the JD Centre of Art will contribute to the sustainability and development of craft communities in the state of Odisha.
The JD Centre of Art is the educational division of JD Educational Trust, with learning centers spread across India. It provides multi-disciplinary education in the field of Fashion and Interior design studies. The Centre has closely worked with members of the industry like Fashion Design Council of India and is a regular contributor to the development of the Indian Fashion Industry, participating in exhibitions, fashion weeks and other social and charity events. Additionally, JD Educational Trust is a member of various bodies such as Indo Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Indo French Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Turkish Chamber of Commerce.
