Eusebi Arnau


Eusebi Arnau i Mascort (1864 - 1933) was a Spanish sculptor.

He studied at the School of Fine Arts in Barcelona and was a disciple of Josep Gamot. He continued his studies in Rome in 1887, thanks to a scholarship from the School of the Lonja. In Paris he expanded his knowledge at the Julien Academy; Exhibited in this French capital in the years 1895 and 1902.

In his workshop he had Pablo Gargallo and Josep Dunyach as a disciple among others. Together with the sculptor Josep Llimona he worked in the altarpiece of the basilica church of Santa Engracia in Zaragoza.

His sculptures applied to architecture such as the Lleó Morera house, the Amatller house, 1 Hotel España, the Palacio de la Música Catalana and Hospital de San Pablo2 (all in Barcelona), categorized him as a prominent sculptor of modernism.

He was a habitual collaborator of the architect Enric Sagnier i Villavecchia, with whom he worked in the building of the Customs of the Port of Barcelona, ​​the House Rupert Garriga, the Via Crucis de Montserrat, the Expiatory Temple of the Sacred Heart, the Sacred Heart Parish of the People New, the agency of the Pension Fund in Reus, etc.

Among other things, he was awarded the Universal Exposition of 1888, the Solidarity of Catalonia, the Centennial of Columbus and the commemoration of the demolition of the walls of Barcelona.
