Museo del Objeto del Objeto Ciudad de México, Mexico
Museum of the Object [purpose] of the Object, or MODO, is a museum in Mexico City and the first museum in Mexico dedicated to design and communications. It was opened in 2010 based on a collection of commercial packaging, advertising, graphic arts, common devices and many other objects dating back to 1810 collected by Bruno Newman over more than forty years. The museum is dedicated to the preservation of its collection of more than 30,000 items from two centuries, and it is dedicated to the research in the history of design and communications, as well as the promotion of collecting in general. The museum offers workshops, seminars, conferences and other activities intended to promote design and communication.
The Object Object Museum, MODO, was inaugurated in October 2010 in Mexico City and offers always temporary exhibitions, through which we seek to promote enjoyment, dialogue and reflection around our collection.
We are interested in making, through the objects, a historical review of Mexico since the beginning of the nineteenth century: its society, cultural movements, trends, ways of thinking and contact with the outside. In this way, we are interested in reviewing what we are, how we live, what we remember and how we process it in social, historical and communication terms.
We have a collection of more than 100 thousand objects that date from 1810 to date, which are inventoried, photographed and cataloged digitally. This collection has important collections of historical documents, photography, political propaganda and funerary objects, as well as wonderful examples of packaging design, packaging, advertising and graphic arts.
The MODO is linked to a young community, culture-loving and committed to its city, and its high impact exhibitions, promotes the knowledge of its collection and the valuation of the graphic arts, communication, design and history, as well As a sense of responsible community.
