Street Art NYC
New York City, United States

In the late 1970’s a new art movement emerged in the most unlikely place – the gritty streets and subway trains of New York City’s most forsaken borough, the Bronx. With raw talent, fearless energy and spray cans in hand, the first modern graffiti artists transformed their urban landscape into a mesmerizing, free, always-open museum, paving the way to today’s modern street art movement.

In its scope and influence, today’s street art is unsurpassed as a modern phenomenon, having made its way into first-rate galleries and museums. Yet its greatest impact remains on the streets, where it was born, with New York City’s walls serving as a canvas not only for local artists but for artists who travel here from across the globe.

StreetArt NYC serves as a showcase for the continually evolving spectrum of ephemeral artwork found on the streets of New York City.

An iPhone App with a location map and bios of all street artists at work on NYC's streets -- powered by Geo Street Art -- is updated regularly.
